Hi Robert,
I had a brief look at your site, and it looks intriguing. Thanks for posting the link. I will give it further time as and when...
There does seem to be quite some movement toward a more 'new age' thinking, generally, and this is quite obviously being actively 'countered' by the old religious...erm, ...'guard', shall we say?
Movement and constant change is quite obviously the Nature of Reality. This is fact, not opinion, but the equal Nature of Reality is that a 'new civilisation', just as a 'new individual', must be born at the expense of pain by the 'old civilisation'. Thus 'Rome' (which wants to become the whole planet) continues to 'burn'...
I believe a lot of this 'pain' can be relieved by a smooth transition, once we are able to understand where it comes from, and as we are talking about a predominantly psychological 'pain', the obvious antidote is a basic understanding of psychology itself. Or psychology of the Self. (Which may be interpreted as a psychology of Nature, or the Universe, as ultimately, these are our origins, and what we represent..)
To this end, there have been, in recent times (last 100 years or so, in the 'West'), a number of people who have been the effective 'pioneers' of the 'psyche/physical' conjunction that the Human race so desperately needs to come to terms with. The advent of 'Darwinist Evolution' threw Reality into the pot, and now 3000+ years of denial have been 'challenged'! In the 'East', however, a much more REAL (physical AND spiritual) approach has predominated for many thousands of years, hence the advent of such body/mind systems as 'Yoga', or the 'Tao/Zen' approach to 'Life'.
Please note, that I have no objections to an evolving 'God', but a regressive one can have no place in Reality - Or I should better state that, I am now convinced, people's previous intuitions about a 'Higher being' are/were actually intuitions of an Infinite Nature, but we currently lack a comprehensive understanding of what 'Infinity' necessarily means...
This understanding combines ALL 'spiritual belief/intuition', and can therefore also be seen as 'empirical evidence', within the confines of 'Humanity', hence my conviction...( I accept that all people's Honest views are just as valid, as they all confirm the One True Reality as being 'Infinite')
'Reality' must also surely consist of everything that we can know, and not only what we do know at this moment. This is also 'movement', and the constant changes in our understanding are also 'in tune' with the Natural flow of existence. Therefore, there is much we have yet to learn, but are we open to the learning?
A 'new' thing is automatically opposed to all of the 'old' things, and always has to struggle to have its voice heard, but one thing that Geoff's approach has taught me, is that Honesty and Truth are still very much alive. They always will be, as they are the root of all Reality, and as such they 'transcend' the subjectivity of the merely 'Human'. 'Humans' are 'relative', which is why all of our 'concepts' will eventually been seen as such, when we apply Reality to our 'equations'.
In this way, I believe, the only way to understand ourselves and our 'concepts' is to accept that there is ONE underlying Reality to the Nature of existence, but that we all have a unique perspective of it, as it is in our Nature to also be unique as individuals. This has been necessary because of our transition from a previously 'animal' state, which required the use of 'Natural selection' as the tool for advancement (Although, personally, I have trouble equating the word 'civilised' when I look around at the current Human situation!).
Now, we are at another stage. We no longer need to be 'animal'. In fact, our past is our detriment, and we can objectively 'see' ourselves being split between our 'animal' past, and our unknown future. On either side of these 'views' we have superstition. Therefore, once again, the only 'antidote' to superstition is Reality itself. Truth and Honesty, again...It all starts with the individual...(and hopefully ends with a cure for our collective schizophrenia!)
A furtherment of personal consciousness (not to mention a basic understanding of it!) will produce the furtherment of its societies. A return to Truth and Honesty will open the doors of such perception.
You obviously already recognise this fact, hence the post (and your web-site), and what I believe we need to all do, is to pull this idea of Unity together, all make some attempt to further the consciousness levels of our collective understanding.
Regression into the 'past' has done nothing but hinder the advancement of vitally new knowledge and understanding, and we are now at a point when further 'regression' may cost us the ultimate price.
The WSM represents new and advanced knowledge about the Dynamic Unity behind all that we currently know about 'existence'. It is presented in as Honest and True a way as is currently possible. People who vehemently hold to their past beliefs will be reluctant to acknowledge it, until they learn how to leave those beliefs behind, in the past, where they belong...There is nothing 'wrong' with that. It is just the True and Honest Nature of Reality.
Do we cling to old superstitions, or do we finally embrace Reality? We would be wise to accept that the True Nature of Existence in Reality only knows one direction, and that is forwards...
So, here's a cure for old age...accept a new one!
Looking forward to reading more of your web-site.
Best regards,
Steve.
P.S. Geoff may not be around for the next couple of months, so replies will probably be a bit slow for a while.. |
